1.3.0 Update - Countdown System


This time I come with something that is not simple new content.
While I feel the Combo System is the strong point of Novus Orbis, I also felt it was still too "similar" to Slay the Spire, and that I needed something to make the fights in my game even more distinct.

SO, HERE WE ARE.

The game now has a new Countdown System.

Enemies will have a number next to their HP, that represents how close they are to attacking.
For every card you play, their Countdown goes down. This means enemies will be able to attack during your turn.
Ending your turn will instead decrease the enemies' Countdown by 2. Plan your moves accordingly!

I feel this opens a lot of new options to the game.

Just a warning, considering it's a new thing and that now the game is played in a quite different way, it may need some balancing tweaks.

Together with the new system, I also made a set of cards that increase the enemies' Countdown value:

NEW CARDS

  • Time Travel
  • Low Blow
  • Tremor Strike
  • Radiant Shield
  • Imposing Presence

CHANGES

  • Chime earring now is activated when drawn.
  • Attacks card that inflict statuses now won't inflict them if the enemy is evading.
  • Non attack cards (skills and specials) will inflict statuses regardless of the enemy evading.
  • Decreased the rarity of Fancy Bottle.

I'm pretty happy with how the game is becoming.

We are now at 101 cards and 49 blessings.
While I still have a few in mind, I am satisfied with these numbers, and anything more than this will be a treat.

I will focus my next update to (aside balancing and bug fixes) a few new event rooms, and maybe a retouch to the foregrounds.

I think the Demo is now getting close to be "done".
With that I'll need to make it more known, hopefully.
